Andrew Ürge - Arts - Andrews Proart Services

There are significant moments in art that deserve to be captured, and I am passionate about capturing those moments through painting. Done well, emotions, personalities and sentiments shine through - creating memories that will last a lifetime.

My specialties are paintings in oil, watercolor, and acrylics creating great paintings for your home and office  "ART FOR YOUR WALL" landscapes,  modern creations, and individual portraits.

You must think back to the days of my young years, and ask what made me become an artist? what made me think that I can paint, or draw?  When I was attending primary school at the age of ten, the teachers often asked me about what is the one subject that I wanted to do, they wanted to find out what is that one thing that I was good at.  Can you sing or dance? Or perhaps you are good with your hands such as painting or drawing, or maybe you good at sport?  they asked, and I said yes to all that, how could I know the answers to these questions at the age of ten, I thought that I could sing and dance and become an actor, or I will become the best soccer player in the world.  I believed that I can sing a bit and I’m good on the dance floor, and become a reasonably good soccer player, but back then no-one suggested that I have any talent for art.   Until one day the school had a day out with the assignment of drawing or painting a landscape of the small town of Budakeszi  (now a suburb of Budapest) the school provided me with a sheet of paper and some water colour paint, so I completed a painting of a scene of this town from a distance down in the valley.  That was my first painting I ever done and it turned out to be by far the best work in the class, and the teacher give me great praise, and kept talking about it to other teachers, and finally hanged the picture in her office.  That small success at a young age given me a buzz and permanently stored the idea in my head that I’m good at art, and should continue with it.

After that I got sick with lung infection and put into a sanatorium for a year and missed I year or so of school.  I continued sketching at every opportunity, even at the sanatorium.  When I got back to school Hungary was going true a very turbulent time, and finally with my family we crossed the border to Austria and within a year we arrived to Australia.

That given me new opportunity to continue painting more seriously and joined a number of art societies, and entered exhibitions all over Sydney and Canberra.  Studied art at correspondent schools and later completed two years at East Sydney Art School – I become the secretary of the Sydney based Hungarian Community Art Society   I was involved in organising exhibitions and art workshops for the members.

More recently my time is taken up with organising my solo exhibitions, and entered major exhibitions like the Archibald Portrait Prize, The Sydney Easter Show Art Award, Mosman Art Prize and the Moran Portrait Prize and many more, also I'm running my small business Andrew’s ProArt Services.
